Therapy with Children
Both of us have extensive experience working with children and adolescents, in traditional and non-traditional families — children whose parents are separated or divorced, single by choice, gay or lesbian. In addition, we are very familiar with the issues of blended families, foster parenting and adoption. We welcome referrals of parents needing guidance in child behavior.
Barbara has special training and experience with girls and women who are survivors of sexual abuse. She also has particular interest in children who are acutely or chronically ill, physically injured or disabled, or who have suffered the traumatic illness, injury or death of a family member. She has extensive experience working with adolescent girls with poor self-esteem and eating disorders.
Bob has special skills in working with boys and men who have difficulties with anger, impulsivity and low self-esteem. He also has experience with children who have been victims of sexual, physical and psychological abuse. With young children, he uses play therapy to help them express their feelings that are usually buried beneath the surface.
